The basics
What Curbswap is, how it works, and where it runs.
Curbswap is a subscription service that physically moves your parked car before street sweeping and other parking restrictions hit, then returns it to a legal spot — documented with timestamped photos and GPS. It’s live in Los Angeles, rolling out neighborhood by neighborhood.
Add your vehicle, pair the SwapBox™ smart lockbox, and book a Curbswap. A vetted driver picks up your car, relocates it to a legal spot nearby, and sends you photo + GPS proof — all without you being there.
No. That’s the whole point. Your spare key lives in the SwapBox™ on your car window, and the driver handles everything hands-off.
Sign up now — the app is live and we’re rolling out neighborhood by neighborhood, inviting from the front of the line. Ordering a SwapBox™ locks in early-access pricing and puts you first in line for Curbswaps in your area — it ships now and you can use it as soon as it’s paired.
We’re live in Los Angeles, rolling out neighborhood by neighborhood — starting where parking is hardest, then expanding.
Yes. The Curbswap app is free on the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android). You book Curbswaps, watch them live, and get photo + GPS confirmation right in the app — and the free tools (sweep lookup, sweep-zone map, alerts, CurbScout) work without a subscription.
Yes. Curbswap is on Google Play for Android and on the App Store for iPhone. The free sweep lookup and sweep alarms work on both.
The SwapBox™
The smart lockbox that holds your spare key.
The SwapBox™ is a smart Bluetooth lockbox that mounts on your car window and securely holds your spare key so a driver can access it only when it’s time for a Curbswap.
The SwapBox™ holds your spare key. For a Curbswap, your driver’s app gets one-time access that only works during your Curbswap window and only unlocks when they’re physically at your car (GPS-confirmed). Every open is logged.
It’s a one-time $45 device — early access pricing (normally $75) — separate from your subscription. It ships now, and you can use it as soon as it’s paired.
It has a USB-C emergency port — power it from any USB-C cable to open it. The app also shows your battery level and alerts you well before it runs low.
Booking a Curbswap
Booking, timing, and what happens on the day.
In the app, pick your vehicle, choose “move before the restriction” or a specific time, confirm your parking location on a map, and we take it from there.
It’s the default scheduling mode: instead of picking a time, you tell us to beat the next posted street sweeping. We compute the deadline from the posted rules at your car’s confirmed spot and dispatch a driver to finish comfortably before it.
As close as legally possible — usually the same block or a street or two over. The app shows the exact new spot on a map the moment the Curbswap completes.
Usually just a few minutes of driving — a driver retrieves your key, relocates the car to a legal spot nearby, and photographs it. You’ll see it start-to-finish on the live map.
If a Curbswap goes unclaimed past its window, it auto-cancels, your plan Curbswap is refunded automatically, and we notify you and our team so it’s looked into.
Your account holds your vehicles and Curbswaps. If you share a car, keep it on one account so Curbswaps, the SwapBox™, and billing stay in one place; a house PIN on the box lets others open it too.
Plans & billing
Pricing, plans, and managing your subscription.
Basic is $49/month (4 Curbswaps), Standard is $79/month (8 Curbswaps), and Premium is $149/month (16 Curbswaps). The SwapBox™ is a separate one-time $45 device (early access pricing; normally $75).
Yes. Every Curbswap draws from your monthly plan — there’s no per-Curbswap fee. If you run out, you can buy a single extra Curbswap for $10 on any plan (no roll-over).
No — your plan’s Curbswaps reset at the start of each billing month.
Basic and Standard cover 1 vehicle; Premium covers up to 2.
The app’s core tools — rules lookup, sweep-zone map, alerts, and CurbScout — are free with no trial needed. The moving service is subscription-based; you subscribe when you’re ready to have your car moved.
You can still use all the free tools today and order a SwapBox™ to lock in early pricing. You subscribe to the moving service once we activate Curbswaps on your block.
Yes. You can cancel whenever you want; you keep your remaining Curbswaps through the end of the paid period and won’t be billed again.
You can cancel anytime and keep your remaining Curbswaps through the paid period, then resubscribe whenever you want. Reach support if you need help managing your plan.
Yes — after each completed Curbswap you can rate your driver and add an optional tip. 100% of tips go to the driver.
Safety & trust
Insurance, driver vetting, and keeping your key safe.
Yes — every Curbswap is fully insured. Your car is covered from the moment your driver picks up the key to the moment it’s parked and locked in its new legal spot, in addition to the verified insurance every driver must carry. Combined with background checks, identity verification, and timestamped photo + GPS documentation on every Curbswap, if anything ever did happen the record is already there and the claim is simple.
Yes. Every Curbswap driver is vetted and background-checked, with a valid California license and a clean record, before they can move a car.
Your key stays inside the SwapBox™. Drivers only ever get temporary, GPS-gated, logged access — never a code to keep, never a permanent key.
Every Curbswap is documented end to end with before/after photos and GPS. If something’s wrong, report it in the app and we’ll make it right.
LA parking
Street sweeping rules and tickets in Los Angeles.
A street-sweeping citation in LA is about $73 — the city’s single most common ticket. Curbswap is built to eliminate exactly this kind of predictable, recurring fine.
We can’t promise the impossible, but we’re built to eliminate the most predictable and common ticket — street sweeping. If we ever fall short on a Curbswap we handled, contact support and we’ll make it right.
The sign lists the days and the “No Parking” hours the curb must be clear (for example, “No Parking 8am–10am Tuesday, Street Cleaning”). Park elsewhere during that window on those days. Curbswap’s CurbScout can decode a sign from a photo.
It varies by block — many windows fall in the morning, but some are midday or afternoon, and the two sides of a street often differ. Always check the posted sign or look it up for your exact block.
Yes — LA lets you request an initial review and then a hearing. Our blog has a step-by-step guide. If Curbswap handled the Curbswap, contact support and we’ll help with the record.
No. A disabled placard grants certain parking privileges but does not exempt you from posted street-sweeping windows — you still have to clear the curb.
