Getting started
What Curbswap is and how to begin.
Curbswap is a subscription service that physically moves your parked car before street sweeping and other parking restrictions hit, then returns it to a legal spot — documented with timestamped photos and GPS. It’s live in Los Angeles, rolling out neighborhood by neighborhood.
Add your vehicle, pair the SwapBox™ smart lockbox, and book a Curbswap. A vetted driver picks up your car, relocates it to a legal spot nearby, and sends you photo + GPS proof — all without you being there.
No. That’s the whole point. Your spare key lives in the SwapBox™ on your car window, and the driver handles everything hands-off.
Download the free Curbswap app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) and sign up. We open the moving service neighborhood by neighborhood and invite from the front of the line; you can check your position anytime on the waitlist status page.
Yes. The Curbswap app is free on the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android). Even without a subscription you can look up street-sweeping rules for any LA block, see a live sweep-zone map, get smart alerts before your block is swept, and use CurbScout to decode signs. The subscription adds the hands-off moving service.
Yes. Curbswap is on Google Play for Android phones, and on the App Store for iPhone. The free tools work on both: look up street-sweeping rules, see the sweep-zone map, and set up to 5 sweep alarms with no account. A free account adds saved cars, unlimited alarms, and alarms that repeat every sweep day. The hands-off moving service opens neighborhood by neighborhood from the waitlist, on iPhone and Android alike.
Open Google Play on your phone, search for “Curbswap”, and tap Install, or use the button below. Then open the app and look up your street. You don’t need an account to check sweeping rules or set your first sweep alarms.
Yes. The free tier (parking-rules lookup, sweep-zone map, smart alerts, and CurbScout) works with no subscription. Press and partners can also request a full in-app demo code that unlocks a working demo of the moving service — no account or SwapBox™ required.
No. We don’t reserve or hold parking spaces. We relocate your already-parked car before restrictions begin.
You book it in the app and confirm exactly where your car is parked on a map. A vetted driver arrives before the restriction, photographs all four sides, retrieves your key from the SwapBox™, relocates the car to a legal spot nearby, photographs it again, and the app shows you the new location on a map — with GPS and timestamps.
Yes — your spare key lives in the SwapBox™ mounted on your car. Your main key never leaves you.
Yes. Once a driver is on the way you can track the Curbswap in real time from the app — including live driver location, status updates, and iPhone Live Activities on your Lock Screen.
As close as legally possible — usually the same block or a street or two over. The app shows the exact new spot on a map the moment the Curbswap completes.
Free tools & CurbScout
The free sweep lookup, map, alerts, and CurbScout.
Without any subscription, the free Curbswap app lets you look up street-sweeping and parking rules for any LA block, browse a live map of sweep zones around you, turn on smart alerts before your parked block is swept, and use CurbScout to decode parking signs. No subscription and no SwapBox™ required.
CurbScout is Curbswap’s parking-sign intelligence. It reads the rules around a location — sweep days, restricted windows, and where the legal curb space is — the same intelligence our drivers use to pick a safe drop-off. You can also snap a photo of a sweeping sign on your street and CurbScout turns it into a verified day and curb that helps your whole block.
Enter any LA address (or use your location) on the app or the parking-rules page, and Curbswap shows the posted sweeping day and “No Parking” window for that block, plus a color-coded map of nearby sweep zones — so you know when the curb has to be clear.
When you set your parked location, Curbswap can notify you before that block’s sweeping window begins, so you have time to move your car — or, on the paid plan, have a driver do it for you.
It’s built from the City of Los Angeles’ posted street-sweeping schedules and refreshed on a regular sync cadence, then sharpened block by block with CurbScout sign photos from the community. Always follow the posted sign at your car — signs are the legal source of truth.
The posted sweeping data covers the City of Los Angeles, LA County unincorporated areas, Santa Monica, and Redondo Beach. Other separately-incorporated cities (Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Culver City, and similar) aren’t in the dataset yet. Note this is the free rules lookup — the paid moving service is still Los Angeles only.
Many LA streets sweep the two sides on different days. In the app, two-day streets ask a one-tap “which day does your side sweep?” — and that choice then drives your alerts and any booked Curbswaps so you’re protected on the right day.
In the app, snap a photo of your block’s sweeping sign. CurbScout reads it and turns it into a verified sweeping day and curb, improving the data everyone on your street relies on.
No, but they work together. The same rules engine that powers the free lookup is what computes your “move before ticket” deadline, so subscribers get more precise, better-timed Curbswaps.
No. Alerts arrive as push notifications, so you don’t need the app open — just allow notifications and set your parked location.
On Android, a sweep alarm arrives as a loud, max-priority notification on an alarm-sound channel, with the alarm tone and a strong vibration. It repeats a few times, about a minute apart, until you open the app. The full-screen alarm that rings even on silent is iPhone-only (iOS 26 and later), so on Android keep your volume up. It may not break through Do Not Disturb. Set the alarm with a little buffer before the sweep starts.
Allow notifications when Curbswap asks (Android 13 and later ask the first time you open the app). If you said no, go to Settings, then Apps, then Curbswap, then Notifications, and turn them on, including the “Loud sweep alarms” category. If an alarm is silent, check that your phone isn’t on silent or Do Not Disturb, and that battery saver isn’t restricting Curbswap.
No — you can look up a block’s street-sweeping rules on the parking-rules page without an account. Creating a free account lets you save your car and turn on smart alerts.
The posted sweeping map covers the City of Los Angeles, LA County unincorporated areas, Santa Monica, and Redondo Beach. Other separately-incorporated cities aren’t in the dataset yet.
The SwapBox™
The smart lockbox that holds your spare key.
The SwapBox™ is a smart Bluetooth lockbox that mounts on your car window and securely holds your spare key so a driver can access it only when it’s time for a Curbswap.
The SwapBox™ holds your spare key. For a Curbswap, your driver’s app gets one-time access that only works during your Curbswap window and only unlocks when they’re physically at your car (GPS-confirmed). Every open is logged. The driver never sees or enters a code.
It’s a one-time setup: put your spare key inside, mount the box on your car window, then tap “Link my lockbox” in the app to pair it over Bluetooth. After that, every future Curbswap just works.
On your car window — within easy reach for your driver and sheltered from direct rain.
Yes. A driver’s access is time-limited and GPS-gated, they never get a code or a permanent key, and every open is recorded in your access log.
No. It works over Bluetooth and functions with no Wi-Fi or cell service — the driver’s phone authorizes the box directly, so it opens even in a dead zone.
It’s a one-time $45 device — early access pricing (normally $75). It ships now and works as soon as it’s paired. It’s a separate one-time charge from your subscription.
It runs on a rechargeable battery with USB-C charging that lasts a long time under normal use. The app shows your battery level and nudges you at 20% and urgently at 10%. If it ever runs flat, the USB-C emergency port lets you power it from any USB-C cable to open it — your key is never trapped inside.
Yes. Over Bluetooth you can lock, unlock, check the battery, and manage your own PIN codes — plus give it a name and note where it’s mounted so your driver finds it instantly.
Yes. The SwapBox™ pairs and unlocks over Bluetooth from the Curbswap app on Android as well as iPhone. When Android asks, allow the “Nearby devices” (Bluetooth) permission so the app can find the box.
No. Each Curbswap grants that driver’s app one-time access that only works while they’re on your Curbswap and standing at your car — it expires the moment the Curbswap ends. No code is ever shared, and they never keep anything.
Yes. If you cover more than one vehicle (Premium supports two), each car gets its own SwapBox™ so keys stay with the right vehicle.
No. It’s designed to mount securely on your window without marking it, and you can remove it when you need to.
Yes — remove it whenever you like. Just remount it and it stays paired; no re-setup needed.
Every open is logged, and access is time-limited and GPS-gated, so a box is useless to anyone without an active Curbswap. If something looks wrong, message support and we’ll help secure your account.
Months of normal use on a single charge. The app shows the exact level and nudges you at 20% and urgently at 10%, so it never dies on Curbswap day.
Booking a Curbswap
Booking a Curbswap and how it runs.
In the app, pick your vehicle, choose “move before the restriction” or a specific time, confirm your parking location on the map, and we take it from there.
It’s the default scheduling mode: instead of picking a time, you tell us to beat the next posted street sweeping. We compute the deadline from the posted rules at your car’s confirmed spot and dispatch a driver to finish comfortably before it.
Yes — choose “Pick a specific time” when booking. On sweep days the window must land within two hours before the sweep so the Curbswap actually protects you.
You confirm it. When you book (or update your car’s location), the app shows a map pin you drag to the car’s exact spot — parking rules come from that street, so precision matters and we double-check anything that looks off.
Curbswaps are timed to finish comfortably before your restriction window — including early street-sweeping times — so your car is legal before enforcement begins.
To the nearest legal spot for your vehicle. You can set preferred fallback zones near your home or work, and drivers prioritize them when a legal spot is available.
You get the exact GPS coordinates and photos in the app as soon as it’s parked, shown on a map.
Yes. You get updates when a driver is assigned and on the way, live tracking during the Curbswap, and photo + GPS confirmation the moment it’s parked. On iPhone, a Live Activity keeps the status on your Lock Screen.
Yes. Open the Curbswap in the Vehicles tab to change the time or cancel. If a driver hadn’t started yet, the Curbswap is returned to your monthly allotment.
Just cancel the Curbswap in the app (or update your car’s location) so a driver isn’t dispatched to an empty spot. A Curbswap canceled before a driver starts goes back to your allotment.
Drivers work from your fallback zones and keep relocating until your car is legal. You’re notified at every step, with an explanation if anything blocks a Curbswap.
If a Curbswap goes unclaimed past its window, it auto-cancels, your plan Curbswap is refunded automatically, and we notify you and our team so it’s looked into.
Yes. Curbswaps are timed around your restriction window — including early street-sweeping times — so your car is legal before enforcement begins.
You can book as soon as you know your car’s spot. “Move before ticket” handles timing for you; for a specific time, book with enough lead for a driver to be dispatched before the window.
Yes — add Curbswap notes (like permit quirks or where a spot tends to open up) when you book, and the driver sees them.
You book per Curbswap today. The app leads with your soonest sweep and “move before ticket” makes each booking one tap; recurring automation is on the roadmap.
Yes — you can book Curbswaps for different days or vehicles, each drawing from your monthly allotment.
LA suspends sweeping enforcement on set holidays. Curbswap factors posted holidays into your soonest-sweep timing, so you’re not sent to move for a sweep that won’t be enforced.
Plans & billing
Pricing, plans, and payments.
Basic is $49/month (4 Curbswaps), Standard is $79/month (8 Curbswaps), and Premium is $149/month (16 Curbswaps). The SwapBox™ is a separate one-time $45 device (early access pricing; normally $75). The free app features don’t cost anything.
The moving service is. Every Curbswap draws from your monthly plan — there’s no per-Curbswap fee. If you run out, you can buy a single extra Curbswap for $10. (The parking-rules lookup, map, alerts, and CurbScout stay free.)
On any plan you can add one extra Curbswap for $10 (this month only, no roll-over) — or upgrade to a bigger plan at any time.
No — your plan’s Curbswaps reset at the start of each billing month.
Basic and Standard each cover 1 vehicle; Premium covers up to 2 vehicles that share the plan’s Curbswap pool.
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade anytime in the app. Upgrades take effect immediately and you pay the prorated difference; downgrades apply at your next renewal so you keep what you paid for.
On your monthly renewal date. Your Curbswap allotment resets then, and any downgrade or cancellation takes effect at that renewal.
Yes. You keep your remaining Curbswaps through the end of the paid period and won’t be billed again.
Securely through Stripe — you can add and manage cards in Profile → Wallet & Payment Methods, set a default for renewals, and remove old ones. We never store your full card number.
Yes — you can refer friends from the app. Check the Refer / Account section for your current referral offer.
Yes — after each completed Curbswap you can rate your driver and add an optional tip. 100% of tips go to the driver.
Coverage & availability
Where Curbswap operates.
The moving service is live in Los Angeles, rolling out neighborhood by neighborhood. The free parking-rules lookup and alerts work across LA County today.
We start where parking is hardest — Silver Lake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, and other high-restriction areas — then expand based on driver and subscriber density.
The app tells you if your area is live for Curbswaps. If it isn’t yet, you’re on the list and we’ll notify you the moment we launch there.
Join the waitlist and check your position on the status page. We open areas by demand — inviting people to spread the word and ordering a SwapBox™ both help move your neighborhood up the list.
Yes. Ordering locks in early-access pricing and puts you at the front of the line for Curbswaps in your area. Your box ships now and works right away, so you’re ready to book the moment Curbswaps go live on your block.
Yes, as long as your car is street-parked in an area we cover. We also partner with apartment and hotel operators to offer Curbswap as an amenity.
Drivers relocate cars only to spots that are legal for your vehicle based on posted rules. If your area is permit-heavy, mention it in your Curbswap notes so the driver plans accordingly.
The moving service is Los Angeles only for now (rolling out neighborhood by neighborhood). The free rules lookup covers Santa Monica and Redondo Beach, but not yet West Hollywood or other separately-incorporated cities.
Yes — we work with apartment, hotel, and property-management partners, and can talk through fleet or multi-vehicle needs. Reach us via the Partners page or contact@curbswap.co.
Your vehicle
Adding cars and vehicle details.
Yes — electric vehicles are fully supported.
Most standard cars, SUVs, and small trucks. If your vehicle is oversized, exotic, a motorcycle, or has unusual requirements, message support before subscribing and we’ll confirm coverage.
Your make, model, year, color, and license plate, plus where the car is parked.
The driver reports it immediately with photos, the Curbswap doesn’t count against your allotment if nothing was moved, and support follows up with you right away.
Yes — manage vehicles in the Vehicles tab. Premium supports two vehicles at once; on other plans you can swap which single vehicle is covered.
No problem — you confirm your car’s exact spot each time you book, so a Curbswap works wherever you’re legally parked within a covered area.
Parked and secured as usual, with your spare key in the SwapBox™. Leave it in park with the brake set as you normally would; the driver handles the rest.
Let us know in your Curbswap notes. Anything that prevents a driver from safely moving the car (a club, a boot, a mechanical issue) may pause the Curbswap — the driver reports it and support follows up.
Yes. Curbswap moves a car you’re authorized to drive — leased, financed, or owned — to a legal spot nearby, the same as you would yourself.
Safety & security
Vetting, key safety, and proof.
Yes. Every Curbswap driver is vetted and background-checked before they can move a car.
Background check, valid California license with a clean record, verified documents, and conduct standards — plus every Curbswap is photographed, GPS-tracked, and audited.
Four-angle photos before the driver touches the car and again after parking, the exact GPS drop-off location, and timestamps on everything — all visible in the app.
Report it from the Curbswap summary or support chat right away. The before/after photo set from your Curbswap is the evidence baseline, and our team investigates every report.
Your key stays inside the SwapBox™. Drivers only ever get temporary, GPS-gated, logged access — never a code to keep, never a permanent key.
No. Access is minted per Curbswap, only works while that driver is assigned and physically next to your car, and expires when the Curbswap ends. Every open is logged.
You do. During a Curbswap you can see the driver’s progress live, and every SwapBox™ access is logged to your account. We don’t sell your location data.
If we handled a Curbswap and fell short, contact support with the citation and we’ll review the posted rules, the Curbswap timeline, and the GPS record and make it right. We’re built to eliminate the most predictable ticket — street sweeping.
Every Curbswap is documented end to end with before/after photos and GPS, and drivers are vetted and held to conduct standards. If anything goes wrong, report it in the app and our team investigates every claim.
Support & troubleshooting
When something needs a hand.
Open support chat in the app — tap a question bubble for an instant answer, or type a message and the Curbswap team replies directly. You can also use the form on the Support page.
You can sign in with Apple or Google, or with your email. Use the same method each time so your account and Curbswaps stay in one place.
Stand next to the car (Bluetooth range is short), give the box a keypad tap to wake it, and let the app retry — it reconnects automatically. Still stuck? Message support from the app.
You’ll get a notification with an explanation. Drivers escalate if a legal spot can’t be found, and support can step in. Reach us anytime from the Support page or in the app.
Contact support with a photo of the ticket and the Curbswap in question. We review what happened on our side — posted rules, the Curbswap timeline, and the GPS record — and make it right where we fell short.
Use the waitlist status page (or the app) and enter the email you signed up with.
Profile → your plan → switch. Upgrades take effect immediately (you pay the prorated difference); downgrades apply at your next renewal so you keep what you paid for.
Update your car’s location in the app before the Curbswap, or cancel and rebook with the correct spot. Rules come from the exact pin, so an accurate location matters.
Street sweeping & LA parking
LA rules, tickets, and tows.
The city posts a “No Parking” window on each block — usually a one- to two-hour slot on a set day — when the curb must be clear for the sweeper. Schedules change block by block, and the two sides of the same street are often swept on different days.
A street-sweeping citation in LA is about $73. It’s the city’s single most common ticket — Los Angeles issues an estimated 1.5–2 million parking citations a year, and street sweeping is the #1 cause.
Yes. The citation is tied to the posted “No Parking” window, not the sweeper’s actual arrival. If you’re parked during that window you can be ticketed regardless.
Legally, no — the ticket is tied to the posted window, not the sweeper. Enforcement can still cite you until the window ends, even if the sweeper has already gone by. The safest bet is to wait until the posted window is over.
Yes. Los Angeles suspends street-sweeping enforcement on a set list of holidays each year. On those days you won’t be ticketed for sweeping, but all other posted restrictions still apply.
Many LA streets sweep each side on a different day. Curbswap asks a one-tap “which day does your side sweep?” so your alerts and Curbswaps protect you on the correct day for your side of the street.
Red = no stopping or parking; yellow = commercial loading only during posted hours; white = passenger loading/drop-off; green = short-term parking with a posted time limit; blue = disabled parking with a valid placard. Colored zones apply on top of street sweeping.
No. A preferential (permit) parking permit exempts you from many time limits in your district, but not from street sweeping — you still have to clear the curb during the posted sweep window.
A residential zone where non-permit vehicles face tight time limits during posted hours. A residential permit exempts you from many of those limits — but not from street sweeping.
Short-notice restrictions posted for film shoots, construction, or utility work — often just 24–72 hours ahead. A legal spot can become a tow-away zone overnight, which is why they catch so many drivers.
A ticket is a fine you pay; a tow means your car is removed to an impound lot and you pay tow, storage, and release fees on top of the citation. Street sweeping usually means a ticket, but tow-away zones and blocked-curb situations can escalate to a tow.
As of the January 2026 rate increase, expect roughly $450–$600 or more: about a $220 tow fee (first hour), around $68 per day storage (plus a 10% city parking tax), a $115 vehicle release fee, and the original citation.
The base fine for most violations without a specific provision is $63. Street sweeping runs about $73, and red-zone or no-stopping violations are at the higher end (around $93 and up).
Los Angeles has some of the strictest, most complex parking enforcement in the country — 7,000+ blocks with unique restrictions and 35,000+ signs — so it’s where hands-off protection helps the most.
Beyond the City of Los Angeles, the free lookup also covers LA County unincorporated areas, Santa Monica, and Redondo Beach. Other separately-incorporated cities (Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Culver City, and similar) aren’t in the dataset yet. This is about the free rules lookup — the paid moving service is still Los Angeles only.
Curbswap is focused on recurring, scheduled restrictions like street sweeping. For rush-hour tow-away corridors, the safest move is not to park there during posted hours — our blog covers how to spot them.
We can’t promise the impossible, but we’re built to eliminate the most predictable and common ticket — street sweeping. If we ever fall short on a Curbswap we handled, contact support and we’ll make it right.
About Curbswap
The company and the mission.
Most parking apps just tell you the rules. Curbswap actually does something about them — a vetted driver physically relocates your car before the restriction, so it’s execution, not another reminder.
Yes. Curbswap relocates your own vehicle, with your authorization, to legal parking spots — the same thing you’d do yourself, handled by a vetted driver.
Curbswap’s app, workflow, and SwapBox™ key-handoff system are patent pending.
Not yet. We’re live in LA first and plan to expand to other dense, permit-parked cities. Join the waitlist to register interest in your city.
A vetted, background-checked Curbswap driver with a valid California license and a clean record. Every Curbswap is photographed and GPS-tracked.
A monthly subscription ($49–$149) plus a one-time SwapBox™ device ($45 early-access, normally $75). There’s no per-Curbswap fee — Curbswaps come out of your plan — and the app’s free tools cost nothing.
Join the waitlist and, optionally, order a SwapBox™ to lock in early-access pricing. We invite from the front of the line as each neighborhood opens. Your SwapBox™ ships now and works right away, and ordering puts you first in line for Curbswaps in your area.
Curbswap works with apartment, hotel, and property-management partners, and shares company and investment information with interested investors. See the Partners and Investors pages, or reach us at contact@curbswap.co.
It’s what the service does — it swaps your car off a soon-to-be-restricted curb and onto a legal one, before the ticket.

Privacy & your data
How we handle your information.
Account and contact details, your vehicle information, the location of your parked car, and Curbswap documentation (photos + GPS). Payments are handled by Stripe — we don’t store your full card number.
No. We don’t sell your personal information or your location data. See our Privacy Policy for exactly how we handle and retain it.
You can. During a Curbswap you see the driver’s live progress, and every SwapBox™ access is logged to your account. We don’t sell your location data.
Your key stays inside the SwapBox™. A driver’s app only ever gets temporary, GPS-gated, one-time access that expires when the Curbswap ends — never a code to keep, never a permanent key.
All payments run through Stripe, which handles your card under its own security and compliance. Curbswap never stores your full card number.
Yes. Contact support to close your account, and see our Privacy Policy for how we handle and retain your information.
Drivers get only what they need for a Curbswap — your car and its location during the job. They don’t get your payment details, and access to your SwapBox™ is one-time and expires when the Curbswap ends.
