Privacy Policy
Curbswap (“Curbswap,” “we,” “us”) provides a free app for street-sweeping lookup and reminders, and a subscription service in which vetted drivers relocate customers’ parked cars to avoid street-sweeping and other parking restrictions in Los Angeles. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website, app, SwapBox™ device, and services, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Curbswap, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Account & contact details: name, email address, phone number, and the neighborhood, ZIP code, or addresses you save. You can browse the map and sweep lookup as a guest without an account; we collect account details only when you sign up, join the waitlist, or take an action that needs an account.
Vehicle details: make, model, year, color, license plate, and nickname, so drivers can identify your car and so we can show sweep times for where it is parked.
Payment information: subscriptions, extra moves, and SwapBox™ purchases are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number — Stripe handles card data under its own privacy and security practices. We keep records of what you bought, when, and its status (for example, paid, canceled, or refunded).
Location data: the location of your parked vehicle; your device location when you use location features (such as the map, sweep lookup, or pairing and opening a SwapBox™); and GPS captured during a move. See “Location data” below.
Move documentation: timestamped photos of your vehicle and GPS pins captured by the driver before and after each move, plus the move timeline (scheduled, assigned, en route, arrived, completed, canceled, or failed).
SwapBox™ data: the lock paired to your account and vehicle, access codes you create for others (for example, a friend or valet) and their validity windows, and a log of lock and unlock events (who or what opened the box and when), including records we read from the device over Bluetooth.
CurbScout sign submissions: if you submit a parking sign, the photo, the GPS location and time it was taken, and the block or street side details you provide.
Notification data: device push tokens and your reminder and alarm preferences.
Device & usage data: technical information such as IP address, device and OS type, app version, crash and diagnostic information, and how you interact with our website or app.
Communications: messages you send us through in-app support chat, the contact form, or email, and any ratings or tips you give after a move.
Driver applicants and drivers: identity and contact details, driver’s license, insurance, vehicle and background-check information, payout details handled by Stripe Connect, and location while on duty (see below).
2. How we use your information
To provide the service: show street-sweeping schedules and parking rules, schedule and perform moves, dispatch drivers, and send you photo + GPS confirmation of where your car was parked.
To send sweep reminders, alarms, and move updates by push notification, email, or text, based on your settings.
To enable SwapBox™ access: pair your lock, let you lock and unlock it, create and revoke access codes for people you choose, and grant a driver one-time access only during an active move.
To process payments, manage your subscription and move allotment, refund move credits or charges where applicable, and fulfill SwapBox™ orders.
To pay drivers for completed moves and tips through Stripe Connect.
To review CurbScout submissions and improve our parking and sweep data.
To respond to support requests, resolve disputes and damage or citation claims, and communicate with you about your account.
To keep Curbswap safe and working: prevent fraud and misuse, secure accounts, troubleshoot, and improve our products; and to comply with legal obligations.
To send launch updates and marketing only where you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
3. Location data
Location is central to Curbswap. We use your vehicle’s location to show which sweep rules apply and to relocate the car, and we record where it was parked after each move.
Customers: the app uses your device location while you are using location features. SwapBox™ unlocking uses Bluetooth, and driver access is limited to the move window and to drivers who are at your car.
Drivers: while a driver is on duty or on an active move, the driver app collects location, including in the background, to dispatch moves, show the customer live move progress, confirm arrival, and record where the car was parked.
You can turn off location access in your device settings, but some features (such as nearby sweep lookup, SwapBox™ unlocking, or, for drivers, accepting and completing moves) will not work.
4. How we share information
With drivers: the driver assigned to your move receives what is needed to find and move your car — such as your name, vehicle description, its location, and move notes. Drivers do not receive a PIN or code for your SwapBox™; access is granted through the app for that move only.
With customers: during and after a move, the customer sees the assigned driver’s name, move progress and location while the move is active, and the move photos and GPS proof.
With people you choose: if you create a SwapBox™ access code for someone, you decide whom to share it with.
With service providers who process data on our behalf — for example, Stripe (payments and driver payouts), Google Firebase / Google Cloud (hosting, database, authentication, and notifications), TTLock (the lock platform used by the SwapBox™), and email, messaging, mapping, and analytics providers.
For legal reasons: when required by law, to respond to a citation, tow, damage, or insurance claim, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Curbswap, our users, or others.
In a business transfer: as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Cookies & analytics
Our website may use cookies or similar technologies to keep the site working and to understand aggregate usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some functionality.
To understand which of our marketing works, we keep a random first-party visitor ID (a cookie and local storage) along with how you arrived: campaign tags, the referring site, and the page you landed on. If you later install the app, we may link the install to that visit using a short code in the App Store link or, for up to 48 hours, a one-way hash of your IP address and device type. We never store your raw IP address for this, the hash is deleted after 72 hours, and none of it is sold or shared with advertisers. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we don’t record ad-network click identifiers.
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use our website, through heatmaps and session recordings of clicks, scrolling and page navigation. Anything you type into a form on our site is masked and never recorded. Clarity sets cookies and processes this usage data on our behalf under Microsoft’s privacy statement (privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement). If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, Clarity is not loaded.
In the app, we collect usage and crash information to understand how features are used and to fix problems.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Move records, photos, GPS proof, payment records, and SwapBox™ access logs may be kept after a move or after you close your account as needed to handle claims and disputes, comply with legal and tax obligations, and enforce our agreements. You can delete your account in the app or ask us to delete it as described below.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password.
8. Your choices & rights
You can update your account details and notification settings in the app, delete your account in the app, and opt out of marketing emails at any time. You can also access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information by contacting us at contact@curbswap.co.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — for example, California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, delete, and correct personal information and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We will honor verified requests as required by applicable law.
9. Children’s privacy
Curbswap is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Effective” date above, and we will notify you of material changes through the app, website, or email.
